Finishes & Aftercare

We cast all our front door hardware from solid recycled brass, a highly non-corrosive metal that will withstand a lifetime of weather and pollution. We then offer a range of five fabulous finishes for you to style your look!

  • Satin Brass

Our Satin finish is brass in its natural raw state with no coating or lacquer. Soft, understated and super trendy, it will develop a beautiful unique patina with age and exposure to the elements. There is very little aftercare required if you allow it to patina but if you prefer a fresher look, you can either clean regularly with brass cleaner and a soft cloth or even scrub the brass with a 'Scotch Brite' fine pad to remove the patina and expose the fresh brass beneath. Its a great option if you live by the sea!

  • Polished Brass

Our Polished brass finish is raw brass buffed to a high polished shine. It has a deep rich brass tone that gives it that true vintage vibe! As our pieces are not lacquered, the brass will naturally patina over the years to give that timeless aesthetic. However, you can maintain the polished finish by simply using a brass cleaner and buffing with a soft cloth regularly. Otherwise, you can leave it be and enjoy the fantastic aged look.

  • Matt Nickel

Our Matt Nickel hardware starts life as solid brass and we add a layer of Nickel electro-plating. Companies often nickel plate steel and other inferior metals which rust from the inside out over time but as we plate solid brass, it will not corrode or rust. The Nickel outer coating is left unpolished giving it a understated, soft, effortless look. To maintain, simply clean with a nickel cleaner and a soft cloth to remove any tarnishing, dirt or pollution build up that can occur over time and exposure to the elements.

  • Polished Nickel

Our Polished Nickel hardware starts life as solid brass and we add a layer of Nickel electro-plating which is then buffed to a high shine bling finish. Inferior nickel products are often made by plating steel and cheaper metals that will rust from the inside out over time. As we use solid brass, ours will not. Due to being unlacquered, it will age and tarnish slightly over time but is super easy to maintain. Simply remove any tarnishing and pollution build up with nickel cleaner and soft cloth. Avoid abrasive cloths that can scratch the surface.

  • Black

Our black finish has a smooth, satiny look. Beginning life as solid brass, each piece is given a highly durable powder coat layer. This gives brilliant protection against the elements and there should be very little change in colour over the years. Black powder coating requires minimal maintenance. If you notice any build up of dirt or pollution, clean with soapy water and a soft cloth. Avoid any abrasive cloths as this can scratch the surface. This finish gives a striking and sophisticated look which looks great against bright and pastel door colours.
